@PEANTONG That’s all well and good, but variety is the spice of life. Acts like Lady Gaga are popular because their styles appeal to a wider audience. Innovative, wicked-cool stuff like Tom Waits doesn’t top the charts because too many people just don’t care for it, for whatever reason. That’s no reason to take it out on the performers.

@Chefodeath Ugly doesn’t mean unlikable. Ugliness is as lovable or likable as Beauty itself.
Also we probably would enjoy and like almost all crap songs if they were to be sang by the extraordinary person known as Tom, of course depending if you like him in the first place. But either way I wouldn’t agree calling this song ugly, not because ugly can be as lovable as beauty, but because it is genuinely beautiful.
